At work, we helped launch the release of Freida McFadden’s latest thriller on January 27th 2026… and by the 29th I had devoured it! This is not my first rodeo with this particular Author. She has had me in a chokehold now for over a year and I may have completed 26 of her books (25 in paperback and 1 E-Book) but we shall get into that another day! Not even sorry – I am hooked!

I have read a lot of mixed reviews of Freida’s work and I am well aware there are those who do not like her books. But isn’t that the same for every single Author that has ever walked the planet? People like what they like and they hate what they hate. So I will save you the effort of reading any further and let you know – I AM A FREIDA READAH through and through.

Happy with that? Ok, I will continue…

Dear Debbie, like the others I have inhaled in one (maybe two sittings) did not disappoint me whatsoever. We follow the story of Advice Columnist Debbie Mullen who has spent years dishing out advice to women who feel ignored, belittled and sometimes even abused by their husbands. Until that is, her own life seems to spiral. Debbie is at the end of her tether after a few life events occur one after another – work, socially, relationships – you name it, she’s taking a huge hit from the Universe. What follows is Debbie taking her own advice a little too literally. I COULD NOT PUT THIS DOWN. I tried and failed to make this book last longer than 48 hours – just like all the rest!

Her ability to drop plot twist after plot twist just after you think you have it all figured out is only matched by the reader’s ability to suspend their disbelief. After all, some of the storylines in Freida’s books could be seen as “out there” or “far-fetched”.

My advice when reading a Freida? Grab a cuppa, get your favourite snack, a blanket if the season permits and just LET YOUR MIND RUN FREE.

Cuppa of choice? Chai Tea ❤
